-
What is the free golf swing analysis?
The free swing analysis is a short initial review of your golf swing designed to help identify the main area that may be holding your game back.
It is not a full online golf lesson.
Michael will review the swing you submit and provide a brief overview of what he sees, along with the key area he would recommend focusing on.
The free analysis is intended to give you some direction and help you understand whether online coaching may be suitable for you.
A paid online lesson goes into significantly more detail and can include:
Full video analysis
Swing annotations
Detailed explanation of the issue
Specific drills
Practice recommendations
Clear next stepsIf you would like a complete coaching session and personalised practice plan, you can then move into a single online lesson or ongoing monthly coaching.
-
Do I need TrackMan data for online golf coaching?
No.
You can receive effective online coaching using normal swing videos alone.
Michael can analyse areas such as setup, movement, club delivery, strike patterns and ball flight without requiring launch-monitor data.
However, if you do have access to TrackMan or another launch monitor, you are welcome to include the data with your submission.
Useful information can include:
Club path
Face angle
Face-to-path
Angle of attack
Club speed
Ball speed
Launch angle
Spin rate
Carry distanceThis data can provide additional information, particularly for more advanced golfers, but it is not required to get started.
-
Can I combine online coaching with lessons at Quinns Rocks?
Yes.
This is one of the most effective ways to work with Michael.
Hybrid coaching combines in-person lessons at the Michael Kunman Golf studio in Quinn's Rocks with online coaching between sessions.
For example, you may have an in-person lesson once per month and then send swing videos through online coaching while you practice.
This allows Michael to monitor whether you are making the changes correctly and make adjustments before your next physical lesson.
For golfers who live in Perth and want more ongoing support, hybrid coaching can provide the best of both worlds.
-
What is the difference between a single online lesson and monthly coaching?
A single online lesson is best if you have one particular issue you would like help with or want professional feedback on your current swing.
You submit your swing, Michael analyses it and provides feedback, drills and recommendations.
Monthly coaching is designed for golfers who want ongoing development.
Rather than receiving one analysis and then working alone, monthly coaching allows Michael to follow your progress, review new swings, adjust drills and help guide your practice over time.
This is particularly useful when you are making a swing change, working toward a performance goal or simply want more accountability between practice sessions.
-
Can beginners use online golf coaching?
Absolutely.
Online coaching can be particularly useful for beginners because it provides clear direction early on and can help prevent poor habits from becoming ingrained.
For newer golfers, coaching will generally focus on fundamentals such as setup, grip, ball position, contact and developing a repeatable movement.
You can also submit questions between sessions depending on the coaching option you choose, which can make the learning process much easier than trying to work everything out yourself.
-
What handicap do I need for online coaching?
There is no handicap requirement.
Online coaching is suitable for golfers at every level, from complete beginners through to low-handicap and tour players.
The coaching is based on your current ability, goals, swing pattern and the areas that are most important for your improvement.
You do not need to have a technically perfect swing or understand golf terminology before starting.
-
How quickly will I receive feedback?
Online lessons are generally reviewed and returned within 48–72 hours.
Your feedback may include video analysis, voice-over commentary, swing annotations, drills and clear practice priorities based on what Michael sees in your swing.
The aim is to give you specific areas to work on rather than overwhelm you with too many technical changes at once.
-
How do I film my golf swing?
You don’t need any special equipment to film your swing. A smartphone is more than enough.
For the best analysis, we recommend filming two angles:
Down the line — position the camera behind you, roughly in line with your hands and target line.
Face on — position the camera directly in front of you, at approximately hand height.
Try to keep your entire body, club and ball visible throughout the swing. Filming in slow motion can also be helpful if your phone supports it.
If you are unsure about the setup, we can provide simple filming instructions before you submit your swing.
